How to find the best massage therapist

Simply put, there are 2 questions.

Ask yourself “what am I looking to get out of treatment”?

And ask your therapist “What do you do for professional development”?

The right health professional will help guide you through the first question to get your body to the degree you're satisfied with.

The right health professional will also have a confident and interesting answer for the second question.

Centralisation

Route causes of Symptons often come from the spine or a past injury.

There is a process called “centralisation”. It is when we provide relief of your symptoms and assist you over time to overcome the root cause/s of your aches and pains. The degree of that depends on how skilled the therapist is and what degree of relief you’re after (3 weeks of complete relief, 3 months of complete relief, or symptoms fully managed if not solved).

Going through this journey over and over, therapists gain the ability to see more detail, more patterns and understand what to focus on more and more.

The therapist must be paying attention doing this process though and the only way we can do that is to be challenged.

Professionally challenged comes by in different ways.

  • To keep an open mind to clients who innately or proactively find ways to manage and improve their own body.

  • Keep up to date with colleagues through in person, on the phone, through online networks .

  • Keep up their professional studies through courses and reading studies.

If your body’s concerns fall outside of the usual cases I see on the day to day bases, then expect to find relief not to last at best, or slowly get worse.

Resulting in settling for things to be subpar… Which is where that first question comes in, helps you stay committed to finding improvements.

Maybe it’s time to recruit a new therapist to replace or join your current health management. My recommendation (outside of myself and my network) is to find a therapist that has worked with sporting clubs. Why? Because they needed to produce results.
